MRT Castings Named Company of The Year at Cast Metals Industry Awards
Aluminium diecasting specialists MRT Castings secured the prestigious ‘Company of the Year’ title at the recent UK Cast Metals Industry Awards 2022. The Andover based foundry impressed judges with the way it scaled up rapidly to supply cast aluminium components to one of the world’s largest producers of critical care ventilators during the Covid-19 pandemic.
The firm invested over £3.5m in two additional diecasting cells, seven additional CNC machines and recruited 45 staff to meet huge increases in volumes that saw it grow from turnover of £7.8m to £20.8m in a matter of months.
MRT has also opened a new state-of-the-art diecasting foundry at its Hampshire headquarters. The new facility provides a wealth of operational and environmental benefits, along with additional space to accommodate recent and future growth.
Organised by the Cast Metals Federation, the ‘Best of British Casting’ awards celebrate the achievements of the UK’s vibrant foundry industry. The event showcased the success of the sector and its evolving impact on UK manufacturing.
In addition to the ‘Company of the Year’ win, MRT was also highly commended by the judges in the ‘Innovation’ award, recognising the technological advances of the new foundry building, and the advanced digital manufacturing techniques which were used in its development.
